Sacristan Ministry
What We Do
A sacristan is responsible for caring for our parish's sacred vessels, vestments, and the overall sacristy, and for preparing the altar and liturgical items for Mass—all carried out behind the scenes with reverence for the Eucharist and in silent service. The sacristan arrives about one hour before Mass to prepare the liturgical items and everything the priest will use for Mass. After Mass, they carefully cleanse and put away what was used, and replace the altar cloth, so everything is ready for the next Mass.

By preparing the altar and sacred vessels with care and reverence, the sacristan helps the priest, altar servers, and congregation enter more deeply into the mystery of the Eucharist.
How We Work
We welcome practicing Catholics who have received Holy Communion and are ages 18 and above. A sacristan should be dependable and punctual, detail-oriented and organized, reverent and respectful of sacred items. Willing to serve quietly and humbly behind the scenes.
