Charity is "The Soul" of the Church's Mission
The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines “charity” as “the theological virtue by which we love God above all things for His own sake, and our neighbor as ourselves for the love of God.” Jesus makes charity the new commandment (CCC 1822, 1823).
At SHJ, the Charity Ministry supports two charity organizations, CARITAS Shanghai and the WILL Foundation. From donating money, volunteering time, offering prayers and through various ways, you can become involved and make a difference. Your talent is God’s gift to you and when you use them, it’s an act of worship. What is Mingxin Caritas?
MINGXIN CARITAS (MXC) was founded in 1999 and is one of the longest running volunteer organizations of the international community in Shanghai. The mission at MXC is to bring hope through “Love in Action” by channeling resources to individuals and families who dream for a better tomorrow. In 2024, MXC will celebrate her25th year of “Love in Action.”MXC ensure that all funds raised, go directly to those who MXC has identified through site visits and recommendations. The projects are: Circle of Love & Circle of Hope. MXC believes in the power of community - building connections, nurturing relationships, and sharing joy.
